Stroh When Metallica's "Enter Sandman" begins playing on bar jukeboxes, rock radio stations, and at hockey games, you may be surprised to hear people quoting such phases as "Not a right wing wacko", "You REALLY care about", or "Thank YOU for tuning in to the Tom Leykis Show". Tom Leykis was struck with the idea that Metallica's trademark riff was exactly the punch he was looking for to open his syndicated talk radio program over 6 years ago while hearing the tune during a Los Angeles Kings hockey game. Now he is publicly disgusted by recent actions made by the popular 80's heavy metal band. Metallica recently took action against upstart file sharing software creator "Napster" (www.napster.com) stating that Napster was providing illegal copies of Metallica's music under trademark and copyright. Napster argues that their program connects users and allows them to transfer personal files of all types between users but folded under Metallica's forceful litigation and high priced lawyers to ban a list of people provided by Metallica of users who had MP3 files that matched Metallica's music titles. Leykis and staff have removed all original introduction music by Metallica with cover versions of "Enter Sandman" all downloaded from "Napster". The Tom Leykis Show Official Website has also posted information to alert listeners how to bypass the Napster block forced by Metallica. Tom Leykis' position and actions come from the music industry monopoly that has forced music patrons to pay upwards of $15 for a CD when the cost is pennies and the artists actually receive a nominal percentage. Metallica is currently on tour with upstart acts such as Kid Rock and Snoop Doggy Dogg which poses many questions about the popularity of the band and the frustration of not being able to produce any new music that has been profitable. Is Metallica another dead group in denial? All signs point to YES. http://www.metallicasucks.com/
